about

SGurvin's artistic depth and musical width are profound. The Oslo-based DJ, artist, and producer show his versatility with a warm and atmospheric 5-tracker on the newly established ambient sub-label: Mhost Likely Purple.

In contrast to his earlier works on Mhost Likely, often featuring gnarling synths and brick-walled sampled drums made for the club; ETHER EATER goes in the opposite direction. In times filled with uneasiness, the EP's composition feels like impeccable timing to travel along - a stunning and perhaps much-needed session of relaxation and peace at SGurvin's synthesized spa.

Our voyage starts with the lead-single ambOOla22_1, with whispering pads and percussive synths giving rhythm to the atmospheric and barren landscape brushed by ambient and siren-like pads.

Following is the AMBI1R363-3, a more rhythmic and melodic experience with warm synths. The pulsing rhythm is like a steady heartbeat sending calming waves of filtered synths toward the shorelines.

On AMBS1, a deep and powerful sub gives a fitting juxtaposition to the ambient soundscapes of the first two tracks. The deep bass is complemented by plucking synths with deep delays, and gliding sine waves give a tribal sense of rhythm that evolves throughout the song while the comfortable blanket of pads disappears. The deep sub dissipates, and the alluring synth pads return towards the end, again bringing you at ease.

Our next stop is AMBSHP1, a lovely soundscape that paves the way for the deep and throbbing bass, massaging your ears and keeping you tethered to SGurvin's carefully curated environment. The song steadily increases in intensity before appropriately fading out.

Our final destination has arrived in 25BLH_1. A dynamic and throbbing ripple of sound that pushes toward your senses sprinkled with glitchy plucks and smooth, yet gnarly bass makes for a delightful and awakening sendoff.
